VEN PONGAL
It is a very famour dish in Southern India. Next to Idly, Pongal is the most consumed Breakfast in India. The main thing in this recipe is the texture. Served with hot vadas and coconut chutney.

Main Ingredients : Rice and Moong dal
Ingredients :
Rice - 1 cup
Moong dal/ pasi parupu - 1 cup
Milk - 1/2 cup
Green chilli - 5
Black pepper - 2 tbsp
Jeera - 2 tbsp
Cashew nut - 1/2 cup
Curry leaves few
Ginger chopped - 2 tbsp
Ghee - 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Preparation :
- Pressure cook Rice and Dal with 6 cups of water and 1/2 cup of milk. For about 25 - 30 mins, till the texture is smooth.
- Heat the pan, add 1 tbsp of Ghee, then add jeera, ginger, chilli, black pepper, cashew nut and curry leaves. Saute well.
- After the rice and dal is cooked add the mixture that is in the pan. Mix well.
- Add salt. Add ghee. Serve hot.
