DAAL MAKHANI
Dal Makhani is originally from Punjab. Dal is cooked in low flame for hours which gives rich creamy texture. More butter and cream are used in this dish.

Main Ingredients : Green gram dal
Ingredients :
Green gram dal - 2 cups
Chick peas - 1/2 cup
Onion - chopped 1 cup
Tomato - chopped 1 cup
Green chilli - 3
Cashew - 5 nos
Jeera - 1 tbsp
Krambu - 2
Bay leaves - 2
Cinnamon Stick - 1
Cardamom - 2
Ginger - chopped 1 tbsp
Garlic - chopped 1 tbsp
Cilantro - chopped 1 cup
Chilli powder - 2 tbsp
Turmeric - 1 tsp
Malli powder - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Butter - 1/2 stick ( 1/2 cup)
Curd - 1/2 cup
Preparation :
- Soak green gram and channa for 3 to 4 hours
- Then add little salt and pressure cook it, till it is soft.
- In a kadai, add oil then jeera, all garam masala and cashew.
- Then tomato, onion, chilli, ginger, garlic. Saute well and grind it to a fine paste.
- Then in a kadai, add oil then little jeera, then the ground paste.
- Add chilli powder, turmeric and malli powder.
- Now the cooked dal to it.
- Add salt and butter.
- Add curd optional. Close it with lid for 1/2 hour. Stir it often.
- Now add cilantro and garnish
- You can garnish with heavy cream too.
Serve it hot with chapathi or naan
