chayote poriyal

CHAYOTE / CHOW CHOW PORIYAL

This vegetable is kind of hard to cut and peel the vegetable, but once cooked it is so soft and mushy. You can make like a semi sold Kootu or also as Poriyal. For poriyal you can just cook the vegetable and add salt. In this recipe i didn't add any lentils with it. If you want you can add Channa dal/ Split chick pea or Moong dal to add a texture and taste to the recipe.

I usually make kootu out of chow chow because you can add more moong dal to it and make the dish way healthy. And add some coconut and chili paste to it. When you make it with Vatha kuzhambhu it will be just an awesome combination. So it is like when the kuzhambhu is thick you can make kootu so it will go good with that. If you make sambhar then you can make poriyal kind of side dish. That's how the combo works.
