RAJMA CURRY

Rajma is a popular vegetarian North Indian dish consisting of red kidney beans in a thick gravy with lots of Indian spices.

Course : Side dish

Main Ingredient : Rajma

Ingredients :

Rajma - 2 cups

Tomato - chopped 1 cup

Onion - chopped 1 cup

Cashew - 1 tbsp

Red chilli powder - 1 bsp

Malli powder - 1 tbsp

Tumeric - 1 tsp

Jeera - 1 tbsp

Cinnamon stick - 1

Bay leaves - 1

Star anise - 1

Cardamom - 2

Cloves - 2

Green chilli - 3

Coconut - 1/2 cup

Ginger & garlic - chopped 1 tbsp

Cilantro - few

Salt to taste

Preparation :

  • Soak rajma for 8 hours and then pressure cook till soft.
  • In a kadal add little oil and then jeera.
  • Now add ginger, garlic and chilli.
  • Add onion and little salt, so that onions will cook fast.
  • Now add tomatos and all masalas.
  • Keep in aside let it cool for few mins. Then grind well to a fine paste with cashew and coconut.
  • Now in a kadai, add oil then jeera, cardamom, star anise, cinnamon stick, bay leaves, cloves and saute well.
  • Now add the ground paste to the pan and mix well.
  • Pour the cooked rajma to it.
  • Add salt as required.
  • Garnish with cilantro
Serve it hot with roti.
