CINNAMON ROLLS

Cinnamon roll is a sweet pastry, served commonly in North America. It consists of rolled sheet of yeast dough onto which cinnamon and sugar mixture is sprinkled over a thin coat of butter. You can also add chopped walnuts and raisins. It is rolled and cut into small portions and baked. It is topped with a glaze of butter and icing sugar.

Main Ingredient : Cinnamon and sugar

Ingredients :

Dough :

Yeast - 1/4 ounce pack

Warm water - 1/2 cup

Milk - 1/2 cup

Sugar - 1/4 cup

Butter - 1/3 cup

Salt - 1tsp

Egg - 1

All purpose flour - 4 cups

Filling :

Sugar - 3/4 cup

Cinnamon - 2 tbsp

Melted butter - 1/2 cup

Raisins and walnuts - 1/2 cup

Glaze :

Butter - 4 tbsp

Sugar - 2 cups ( powdered)

Vanilla extract - 1 tsp

Hot water - 6 tbsp

Preparation :


  • Heat the oven for 350 deg F.
  • In a bowl dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • In a large bowl mix milk, sugar, melted butter, salt and egg. Add 2 cups of flour to the mix. Make it a smooth paste.
  • Add yeast mixture, do not keep for longer time, it will get activated.
  • Now add the remaining flour mixture. Knead the dough on a floured surface.
  • Keep the dough in a warm place for 1 to 1 and 1/2 hour. Let it sit.
  • When the dough size is doubled then, you can take it and roll it in a rectangle shape, in a floured surface.
  • Coat the baking pan with butter and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  • In the dough you can brush melted butter, all over.
  • Then sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar mix onto it.
  • Then the chopped raisins and walnuts.
  • Now you can roll the dough and start cutting into small portions.
  • Place the dough in the coated pan. Leave the dough for 45 mins and then bake for 30 mins.
  • While baking you can prepare the glaze. Mix butter, powdered sugar and vanilla. Add hot water to it.
  • Glaze it when the baking is over.
Serve it hot with Milk
